iQOO Neo 12 Launches in China: 9,000mAh, Fan, From $660
iQOO just put a fan inside a phone — and raised the price 69%
iQOO has officially launched the iQOO Neo 12 in China, and it is one of the most aggressive gaming phones of 2026: a built-in active cooling fan, a 9,000mAh battery, a 185Hz 2K display, and Qualcomm's newest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The catch is the price. It starts at about $660 in China — roughly 69% more than the Neo 11 it replaces.
Announced in China on October 28, 2026, the Neo 12 is China-only for now. iQOO has not announced plans to bring it to other markets, and the Neo 11 never launched in India, so international availability is genuinely uncertain — do not let any seller promise you a global version yet.

A fan inside the phone is the real story
Most gaming phones cool themselves with vapor chambers and graphite. The Neo 12 adds a literal fan — a 17 x 17mm unit that moves up to 9,770 cubic centimeters of air per minute across three speed settings, working alongside an 8.2K 3D vapor chamber that iQOO says improves heat dissipation by 15% over the Neo 11.
Why does that matter? Sustained performance. A phone that throttles after 20 minutes of gaming is a phone that loses frames exactly when it counts. Active cooling is iQOO's answer to that problem, and it pairs with the Q3 gaming chip, which handles 2K output at 185fps with super resolution and frame interpolation running together, plus full-scene ray tracing. iQOO also claims more than 50 games run natively at 185fps.
The obvious question is durability and dust — a moving part inside a phone. iQOO's answer is the IP68/IP69 rating, plus an IPX8/IPX9 rating specifically for the fan-cooled design. How the fan holds up after a year of daily use is something only long-term reviews will answer, and it is the first thing to watch in owner reports.
9,000mAh: the battery wars keep escalating
The Neo 12's 9,000mAh cell is up from 7,500mAh in the Neo 11, using fifth-generation silicon-anode technology that iQOO says packs 33% more silicon than the previous model. Charging stays at 100W wired, with bypass charging — which powers the phone directly while gaming instead of cycling the battery, reducing heat and wear during long sessions.
For context, this is now the second 10,000mAh-class launch in a week in China: the Redmi K100 launched with a 10,000mAh battery just a day earlier, from about $525. The Neo 12 trades a slightly smaller battery for a faster chip, a faster display, and active cooling — and charges more for it.
Display and chip: flagship numbers, Neo badge
The 6.83-inch AMOLED panel runs at 3200 x 1440 with a refresh rate up to 185Hz — up from 144Hz on the Neo 11 — at 514ppi and 2,200 nits full-screen peak brightness. iQOO claims 22% higher full-screen peak brightness, 27% lower power consumption, and 18% better luminous efficiency than the Neo 11's panel, with a separate display driver chip that uses 30% less power than the Neo 11's.
Underneath is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm's newest flagship chip, with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. iQOO claims a 20% CPU performance improvement, and the Q3 chip claims 60% more performance and 40% better energy efficiency than its predecessor. The phone also uses the same touch chip as the iQOO 16, with instant sampling rates up to 5,000Hz in supported games.
Cameras: good main sensor, no telephoto
The rear setup is a 50MP Sony IMX921 main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor, f/1.88 aperture, OIS) plus an 8MP ultrawide, with a 16MP selfie camera and up to 8K rear video. The main sensor is the same size and aperture as the Neo 11's Sony LYT-700V, so this is an evolution, not a revolution — and there is no telephoto camera. If zoom photography matters to you, this is not your phone. If gaming and battery matter, that trade-off is clearly where iQOO spent the money.
iQOO Neo 12 China prices (USD converted)
Prices below are iQOO's official China list prices, converted at roughly CNY 6.67 per USD (GizmoChina's conversions). A reported launch-discount price of CNY 3,149 has appeared in some coverage — that is a reported subsidy/discount figure, not the list price, so treat it accordingly.
| Configuration | China price (CNY) | Approx. USD |
|---|---|---|
| 12GB + 256GB | 4,399 | $660 |
| 16GB + 256GB | 4,799 | $720 |
| 12GB + 512GB | 5,099 | $765 |
| 16GB + 512GB | 5,499 | $825 |

The 69% price jump, explained
The Neo 11 started at CNY 2,599 (about $390). The Neo 12 starts at CNY 4,399 (about $660) — CNY 1,800 more, roughly 69% higher. The top configuration is also more expensive than the starting price of the iQOO 16 flagship in China (CNY 5,999, about $900).
That jump repositions the Neo line. It is no longer the value gaming phone undercutting flagships by a wide margin — it is now priced like a near-flagship, and it has to justify that with the fan, the 185Hz 2K display, and the newest Snapdragon chip. Whether buyers accept that trade is the story to watch: the Neo line built its name on value, and $660 is a different conversation than $390.
Should you buy — or import — one?
For now, the honest answer for buyers outside China is: wait. There is no global or UAE launch announced, no international pricing, and no official warranty outside China. Grey-market imports will appear, and they will cost more than $660 once shipping and seller margins are added — and you will lose official warranty support.
If you are in China or buying through a trusted channel there, the decision comes down to priorities: the Neo 12 is the stronger gaming phone (fan cooling, 185Hz 2K display, newest chip, bigger battery), while the Redmi K100 gives you a bigger battery for less money. Check the Redmi K100 launch story before deciding between the two.
One more thing to watch today: the OnePlus Ace 7 launches in China at 15:00 Dubai time today, October 29, with its own 9,000mAh battery and active cooling fan. The gaming-phone race is suddenly very crowded — and very interesting.
